Staff Senate elections are approaching, and we encourage you to participate in the 2022-2023 year! Please use this link to either self-nominate or nominate a colleague. The last day to nominate yourself or someone else,  is  Monday, February 28, 2022.

With numerous senator seats to fill this year, Staff Senate needs representation from all job families, areas, and departments. The KU Job Title Table:  Job Title Table | Human Resource Management ( allows you to find the Job Family you are in according to your Job Title.

Staff Senate is the elected body for staff at the University of Kansas, representing all full-time and part-time university support staff and unclassified professional staff at the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. See this link for a list of continuing Staff Senators.

Our mission is to provide all staff with a voice, a forum, and avenues for growth. This is accomplished by:

  • Providing a formal mechanism for communicating common concerns to appropriate University and State officials
  • Serving as a forum for member presentation and discussion of common concerns of employment
  • Supporting all forms of employee growth through in-house training and professional development financial support

Here are a few great reasons to serve on Staff Senate:

  • Network and collaborate with other KU colleagues and campus partners
  • Learn more about KU, Governance, and higher education administration
  • Be part of a proactive group that ensures staff involvement in major decisions at KU
  • Represent 3,000 staff at KU and advocate for those staff who do not have a voice

Members are encouraged to get involved as much as possible, with time commitments including:

  • 1.5 hours per month for Staff Senate meeting
  • 1 to 1.5 hours per month for volunteer senate committees
  • More information on committees is available via

Elections for Staff Senate will be held from March 21, 2022 - March 31, 2022. The April 13, 2022, Staff Senate meeting will be a transition meeting from the current to the newly elected Staff Senate, with the May Staff Senate meeting being the first full meeting of the newly elected Staff Senate.

Best Regards and Rock Chalk!
