“From Then to Now: A Student History of Haskell Indian Nations University” Exhibit

In 1884, the Indian Industrial Training School, as it was then called, opened in Lawrence under control of the federal government. Over time, the same school, under the same government, has adapted and evolved into an institution of higher education that encourages and celebrates the cultures it was established to eradicate.
Today, the school we now know as Haskell Indian Nations University gives students the tools to help build and connect to their cultures. Thanks to a partnership between the Watkins and the Haskell Cultural Center, this exhibit uses images and artifacts from the Center to tell stories of Native American cultures and Haskell student life.

KU’s on-campus food and hygiene product pantry for staff, students, and faculty. Bring your KUID with you to access goodies up to twice a week. If you bring a reusable bag/backpack, you’ll get 2 more points per visit toward food items. They offer fresh produce, dairy, eggs, meat, canned goods, pasta, cereal, hygiene products, and more.

Through the Lawrence Public Schools Summer Food Program, kids ages 1-18 can enjoy FREE lunch. Adults won’t be left out! They can also eat a healthy meal for $5. No tickets or sign-ups are required. This program is sponsored through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.
No SB 180 Community Group
No SB 180 in Lawrence is a trans-led group of Lawrence residents committed to preventing the enforcement of SB 180 in Lawrence and building a mass political movement to demand that Lawrence establish itself as a sanctuary city for trans people.

Do you care for an older loved one and need help figuring out what resources can help? JAAA provides information, referral, and services for older Kansans and their caregivers residing in Shawnee, Jefferson, and Douglas Counties.
JAAA is a bridge to the aging network providing services for older adults such as case management, caregiver support, and information/outreach. Through partnerships with other community agencies, JAAA also coordinates service delivery.
